Project 5000 Recognition — 78th Second District Conference

On 2 May, the Lambda Xi Nu Chapter was honored at the 78th Annual Second District Conference in Maryland for its outstanding service through Project 5000. The Chapter received district‑level recognition for its charitable impact across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.

Lambda Xi Nu contributed to all four service categories:

  • Soles4Souls Award — donation of gently used shoes
  • The IMAGE Center of Maryland Award — charitable financial contribution
  • 2 Fish 5 Loaves Award — food donations supporting community members
  • Sight Worth Sharing Award — donation of gently used eyeglasses

This recognition reflects the Chapter’s commitment to uplift, service, and meaningful impact throughout the region.

Protect Our Daughters Conference

The Lambda Xi Nu Chapter hosted the Protect Our Daughters Conference on April 25, 2026, at Severn Run High School in Severn, Maryland. Created for young women ages 14–18, the free event provided practical tools for safety, wellness, confidence, and financial readiness.

Led by Committee Chair Brother Daryl Penn, the conference was inspired by his vision to equip young women—beginning with his own daughter—with the knowledge and skills needed to protect and advocate for themselves.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions, including:

  • Mental health awareness — Delegate Latoya Nkongolo
  • Self-defense and rape prevention — Lannette Gerbrick
  • Legal rights and safety — Captain Elizabeth Smith, Anne Arundel County Police Department
  • Financial literacy — Diedre Foster

The program emphasized hands-on learning, ensuring participants left with real, usable skills. Breakfast and lunch were provided to keep students focused and engaged throughout the day.

The Protect Our Daughters Conference reflects the Chapter’s commitment to Uplift and its mission to serve and strengthen the community.

LXN Mentorship Program - Spring 2026

The Lambda Xi Nu Chapter is proud to support a growing mentorship program at Glen Burnie High School, led by Brother Sam Porter, Assistant Principal. The 12‑week initiative meets every other Saturday and brings together 10 to 14 young men, several of whom attend with their fathers, creating a powerful space for connection and growth.

Each session focuses on leadership, character development, academic responsibility, and positive decision‑making. Brother Porter’s steady guidance has helped students build confidence and strengthen their sense of purpose, while also deepening father‑son engagement within the school community.

This partnership reflects LXN’s ongoing commitment to uplifting youth across Anne Arundel County and supporting the next generation of leaders.
